The beginning of the Cormallen kennel

I bought my first Irish Red Setter in 1972 after my husband Mike and I got married and dogs have been a very important part of our life for the past 50 years.

My affix Cormallen was established in 1979 and I have bred 3 Irish red setter litters giving a total of 23 setter puppies. In 1989 I bought my first Irish Red and White Setter and my second bitch proved to be an excellent brood bitch having 3 litters and producing a total of 27 setter puppies. I have also owned 3 red and white setter stud dogs who have produced a total of 61 offspring some who have made a significant mark on the history of the breed. I also judge these three gundog breeds, giving Challenge Certificates in Irish Red and White Setters at Championship Show level in the UK.

In 2005 I obtained my first Welsh Springer Spaniel bitch – Megan who is currently my pride and joy after being made up to a Spanish and a Gibraltan Champion. Megan was mated to Whisky (Int Ch Gayfeathers Wishful Thinking) and produced a lovely litter in February 2011.

Megan was mated again to Greg (Sh Ch Ferndel Aeron Macgregor) in June 2012 and has had her second and last litter of Welsh Springer Spaniel puppies. Follow her and her puppies progress on Megan’s blog.

Please join me in the Cormallen Gundogs blog and please feel free to contact me with any queries or questions. I hope you will enjoy these three gundog breeds as much as I have over the years.
